Why Studying Chinese in Taiwan Adventist College?

Our School

Taiwan Adventist College (TAC) is one of the 6,000 educational institutions operated by the Seventh-day Adventist Church (SDA Church) around the world.  Among these SDA educational institutions, TAC is the only school instructed in Chinese Mandarin.  It strives to provide a conducive Christian environment for holistic development of the spiritual, intellectual, and physical powers in students.  Through the teachers, administrators, and curriculum, the college seeks to provide students with Christian morals, values, and outlook on life, to enhance good health and character, to promote knowledge and competency, and generous service to society in keeping with a witness to Christ of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Location and Facilities

Taiwan Adventist College (TAC) is located in the foothills of central Taiwan near the top 10 scenic spots of China—Sun Moon Lake.  TAC is also elected as one of the most beautiful colleges in Taiwan.  Our campus is designed to provide a pleasant atmosphere for the students to help them achieve their maximum potential.  The modern facilities on campus include spacious dormitories, a modern cafeteria with a large dining area, a well-equipped language lab, an up-to-date computer room, a music building and auditorium with individual practice rooms, a campus church, and a newly constructed library with additional classroom facilities.  Efforts have been made to provide facilities and equipment conducive to a balanced student life in the areas of study, worship, work, and recreation.

The Program of Study

The Chinese language program of Taiwan Adventist College is designed for international students who study Chinese as a second/foreign language.  The objective of the program aims to help students developing successful communicative ability in Chinese Mandarin.   Classes are conducted in Mandarin.    Small-group classes create an optional learning situation for language skills.  The curriculum design is student-centered and the interaction between students and teachers is highly valued.  Professional teachers who are native speakers of standard Mandarin guide every student’s development and take a sincere interest in each person’s individual learning growth.  The program provides orientation, field trips, local Chinese SDA churches visiting, and social activities to encourage the students to communicate with Chinese students and to develop a wider comprehension of Chinese culture.
