Scholarship
Through the enthusiastic church members who care about the education of Taiwan Adventist College, certain funds for scholarship and assistance are available to worthy students. Individuals interested in contributing to a scholarship fund for worthy students are invited to contact Dean of Student Affairs.
Scholarship Application Eligibility Instructions
The following criteria are used by the Student Scholarship Committee to assess the eligibility. The final approval of the scholarship will be subject to the decision of the Student Scholarship Committee. Applicants should submit a written application in accordance with the present measures within one month of the registration day of each semester or at the end of the school year.
1. Graduate Worthy Student Scholarship
1) Qualifications:
a、 Graduates who have enrolled in TAC for at least two years
b、 GPA 90% or more
c、 Citizenship 90 % or more, the top three receive certificate of merit and award money.
2) Award Money
First Prize NT$ 5000
Second Prize NT$ 4000
Third Prize NT$ 3000
3) Procedures: Academic Affairs Committee prepares name list to be approved by Student Scholarship Committee.
4) Deadline: Before the end of the school year and before graduation ceremony.
2. SDA Membership Scholarship
1) Qualifications:
a、 The applicant is Seventh-day Adventist church member baptized for one year (including) or more.
b、 Citizenship 80% or more
c、 Provide baptismal proof or “proof of faith”
d、 These qualifications are applicable to Master program students.
2) Financial Assistance: 15% tuition discount per person per semester and at the end of the semester the scholarship money will be transferred into student’s TAC account.
3) Procedures: Obtain and fill in application form at the Dean of Student Affairs Office. Make sure the qualifications are correct and the documents are complete. After the approval of the Student Scholarship Committee, Finance Office will transfer the scholarship money at the end of each semester to student’s TAC tuition account.
4) Deadline: Submit a written application within one month after school registration. Application must be made within time stated or it will not be attended.
Note:
• Those who are recipients of Pastor’s child and TAC Child Education Allowance are not eligible.
• Students who are enrolled in the 2016 school year will continue to benefit from the original “SDA Membership or child of SDA Membership parents” until 2019, after which the new policy applies.
3. Second Child Scholarship
1) Qualifications:
a、 Regular students who complete one semester of schooling.
b、 Two or more siblings (including the applicant) who study at the same time in the semester at Taiwan Adventist Academy or Taiwan Adventist College.
c、 Submit written application with legal guardian’s household registration. Make sure that the qualifications are correct and the documents are complete.
2) Financial Assistance: The second child attending the school will receive NT$ 6,000 per semester.
3) Procedures: Obtain and fill in application form at the Dean of Student Affairs Office. Make sure the qualifications are correct and the documents are complete. After the approval of the Student Scholarship Committee, Finance Office will transfer the scholarship money at the end of each semester to student’s TAC tuition account.
4) Deadline: Submit a written application three weeks before the end of the school year and before final examination. Application must be made within time stated or it will not be attended.
4. Physical Disability Scholarship
1) Qualifications:
a、 Regular students who complete one semester of schooling.
b、 Those who have a government-issued physical disability handbook or immediate child under parental care.
2) Financial Assistance: NT$ 3,000 per semester.
3) Procedures: Obtain application form at the Dean of Student Affairs Office, complete the form, and together submit photocopy of physical disability handbook issued by the government. Make sure that the qualifications are correct and the documents are complete. After the approval of the Student Scholarship Committee, Finance Office will transfer the scholarship money at the end of each semester to student’s TAC tuition account.
4) Deadline: Submit a written application three weeks before the end of the school year and before final examination. Application must be made within the time stated or it will not be attended.
5. Pastor’s child Scholarship
1) Qualifications: SDA or non-SDA pastor’s child who is a regular student and completes one semester of schooling.
2) Financial Assistance: 20% tuition discount (excluding meals, dormitory fee, miscellaneous fees, and collection fee).
3) Procedures: Obtain and fill in application form at the Dean of Student Affairs Office. Make sure the qualifications are correct and the documents are complete. After the approval of the Student Scholarship Committee, Finance Office will transfer the money at the end of each semester to student’s TAC tuition account.
4) Deadline: Submit a written application one month after school registration. Application must be made within time stated or it will not be attended.
6. Theology and Health Promotion Work-study Scholarship
Note: According to government regulations, international students are not allowed to work during their studies in Taiwan. This scholarship does not apply to them.
1) Qualifications:
a、 Taiwanese students who enroll in Theology or Health Promotion departments are eligible for application. They must complete one semester of schooling.
b、 Semester citizenship grade of 85% (including) or more and work supervisor assessment grade of 85% (including) or more.
c、 Complete semester service and work requirements. (School designated service 24 hours, department work 120 hours, volunteer service 20 hours. Those who are unable to fulfill during the semester can make it up within two weeks during winter or summer breaks).
d、 Each semester absentee (including classes, dormitory worships, convocations, and designated major school activities, etc.) shall not exceed 3 absences.
e、 During the class week, recipients should not regularly eat out.
2) Financial Assistance:
a、 NT$ 30,000 per semester per person.
b、 If the work-study hours do not meet the scholarship qualifications, the working hours will be calculated according to the hourly rate pay.
3) Procedures: Obtain and fill in application form at the Dean of Student Affairs Office. Make sure the qualifications are correct and the documents are complete. After the approval of the Student Scholarship Committee, Finance Office will transfer the scholarship money at the end of each semester to student’s TAC tuition account.
4) Deadline: Submit a written application one month after school registration. Application must be made within time stated or it will not be attended.
Note:
Recipient of Pastor’s child Scholarship and TAC child Education Subsidy may not apply. Those who are unable to pay full tuition fee at registration are not allowed to withdraw 50% payroll as picket money.
7. Service Learning Scholarship
1) Qualifications:
a、 Regular International students who are enrolled and have completed the semester.
b、 Citizenship grade of 85% (including) or more, and service learning assessment of 85% (including) or more.
c、 There shall be no more than three records of absenteeism (including classes, residence hall worships, convocations, designated school activities, etc.).
d、 During the class week, recipients should not regularly eat out.
2) Financial Assistance: NT$ 5000 per semester per person.
3) Procedures: Obtain and fill in application form at the Dean of Student Affairs Office. Make sure the qualifications are correct and the documents are complete. After the approval of the Student Scholarship Committee, Finance Office will transfer the scholarship money at the end of each semester to student’s TAC tuition account.
4) Deadline: Submit a written application one month after school registration. Application must be made within time stated or it will not be attended.
Note:
Recipient of Pastor’s child Scholarship and TAC Child Education Allowance may not apply.
8. TAA graduates advance to TAC Scholarship
1) Qualifications:
a、 TAA graduates advancing to TAC and completing one semester of schooling.
b、 Regular students (at least 13 credits) are eligible for application.
2) Financial Assistance:
a、 TAA Academic Criteria Academic 70% and citizenship 80% is entitled to receive a total amount of NT$ 40,000, in which NT$ 5,000 is transferred to student’s TAC tuition account each semester annually.
b、 Academic 80% and citizenship 85% is entitled to receive a total amount of NT$ 64,000, in which NT$ 8,000 is transferred to student’s TAC tuition account each semester annually.
3) Procedures: Obtain and fill in application form at the Dean of Student Affairs Office. Make sure the qualifications are correct and the documents are complete. After the approval of the Student Scholarship Committee, Finance Office will transfer the scholarship money at the end of each semester to student’s TAC tuition account.
4) Deadline: Before school registration.
9. Chen Jun Scholarship (2017/6 Revised)
1) Objective: To assist outstanding Mainland Chinese students at TAC residency with tuition and miscellaneous fees. To prepare future pastors.
2) Qualifications:
a、 Limited to Mainland Chinese regular students taking programs of Theology or Bachelor of Arts in Religion in Theology Department, Religion & Health Education Major in Health Promotion Department, and other religion related majors. Priority is given to needy students whose overall school performance is in line with Development Education requirements.
b、 With passion for ministerial work
c、 Each semester absentee (including classes, residence hall worships, convocations, and designated major school activities, etc.) shall not exceed 3 absences.
d、 During the class week, recipients should not regularly eat out
3) Qualifications for MCM Program
• Dedicated youth together with 3 years of full church service (inclusive) and statement of proof.
• Submit church recommendation letter.
• Meet admission criteria.
4) Qualifications for Undergraduates
• 3 years of church membership record and definite pastoral calling.
• Submit church recommendation letter.
• Meet admission criteria.
5) Amortization:
Apply together with an amortization contract. Return to Mainland China and serve (priority goes to the church the individual belongs) within one month after the completion of studies. If a church location cannot be arranged, then the Chinese Union Mission will make arrangement for service. Those who have completed a bachelor’s degree are required to fulfill a one-year amortization for one year of studies. Those who have completed a master’s degree must return to the Mainland China for at least two years of amortization.
6) Procedures: Obtain and fill in application form at the Dean of Student Affairs Office. Make sure the qualifications are correct and the documents are complete (church service record, baptismal certificate, and recommendation letter). After the approval of the Student
7) Financial Assistance:
a、 Each student receives NT$ 30,000 per semester.
b、 Scholarship is offered during the first semester when new students meet the qualifications.
c、 word the second semester, to develop education assessment of 90, a single item shall not be less than 85 points, academic achievement an average of 85 points, single subjects major subjects should not be less than 74 points, general subjects should not be less than 70 points. (Revised in June 2017)
d、 Those who are enrolled in a bachelor’s degree are given a maximum of one degree (four years oreight semesters), and a maximum of one degree (one year and a half of six semester )of the scholarship is awarded to a master’s degree.
e、 Students who receive Chen Jun Scholarship can join the Master’s degree of TAC after completing their bachelor’s degree. Upon completion, they will return to the church service according to the contract, but the scholarship grant is still based on a maximum of eight semesters. (#SC17-09 2018/8/14 updated)
Note:
Other scholarships have been made up to more than 60% of the total cost (including tuition and food and accommodation), shall not apply.
10. 『Chen Xian Jin Scholarship』
1) Objective: To assist outstanding Mainland Chinese students at TAC residency with tuition and miscellaneous fees. To prepare future pastors.
2) Financial Assistance: Each student receives NT$ 90,000 per academic year to be split into two semesters. Those who are enrolled in a bachelor’s degree are given a maximum of one degree (four years or eight semesters).
3) Applicants: Students majoring in Theology Department and Health promotion Department
4) Qualifications
a、 Limited to Mainland Chinese regular students taking programs of Theology or Bachelor of Arts in Religion in Theology Department, and Religion & Health Education Major in Health Promotion Department. Priority is given to needy students whose overall school performance is in line with Development Education requirements.
b、 Baptized for at least one year as SDA.
c、 Priority starts with the needy.
d、 Recommended by the church pastor and elders for general performance, including: regular participation in the church meetings, good character, enthusiastic church ministry, the pursuit of self-spiritual growth.
e、 Development Education grade of 90% (no single item less than
85%). GPA 85% (no single subject less than 80%).
5) Amortization:
Recipients of one year of scholarship must return to Mainland China within one month after the completion of studies and serve one year at the church the individuals belong. If church location cannot be arranged, then Chinese Union Mission will make arrangement for service.
6) Procedures:
a、 Fill out application form
b、 Ask church pastor and elder each for one recommendation letter to be submitted.
c、 Fill out the Amortization Contract in duplicate.
7) Financial Assistance:
a、 After the approval of the Student Scholarship Committee, Finance Office will transfer the money at the end of each semester to student’s TAC tuition account.
b、 Recipients of this scholarship may not apply Church Membership scholarship and Chen Jun Scholarship.
c、 If applicants fail to qualify for this scholarship, but who meet the qualifications of the Church Membership Scholarship may apply.
11. TAC Full scholarship
1) Applicants: TAC regular students
2) Procedures: Nominated by Student Scholarship Committee. Those who have financial difficulties, outstanding school performance, and positive influence will be given prior consideration.
3) Quota: 3 applicants
4) Financial Assistance: Tuition, miscellaneous fees, and accommodation fees per semester.
a、 Student who is awarded this scholarship should not receive any other scholarship.
b、 Scholarship for the first semester is not given to new students. During the second semester, the overall performance of the previous semester was assessed.
c、 Undergraduates who advance to Master degree will assess the overall performance of the previous semester. Scholarship for the first semester is not given to Master degree new students.
12. Chen Guang Zhong / Hsu a-Jing 21st Century Future Human Resource Scholarship
1) Objective: Equip individuals who can meet the needs of the times, render effective services to the church and community at large.
2) Applicants:
a、 At least two years of church work experience as regular employees or volunteers before TAC enrollment. Are enthusiastic in church services and faithful tithe payers.
b、 In the course of each semester GPA B (84%) or more, citizenship B + (87%) or more.
c、 Those who will dedicate their life to church institutions or ministry.
3) Quota and Financial Assistance: 10 recipients each receives NT$ 50,000 annually and to be split into two semesters. Among the ten recipients, two places are reserved for associate degree in education and associate degree in music (Revised 2018/3/6 SC#1723).
4) The financial assistance will be transferred to student’s TAC tuition account as a priority.
5) Procedures: Students submit their application within one month after school starts and subject to Student Scholarship Committee’s review and approval.
Note:
a、 This scholarship is not repeated with other scholarships issued by the school with the exceptions of SDA Membership Scholarship, Service Learning Scholarship, or Theology and Health Promotion Work-study Scholarship.
b、 This scholarship shall not be in conflict with the scholarship’s principle in Article 3, paragraph 1.
13. 『Chang, Shan & Chih Theology-Religion Scholarship』
1) Objective: To train pastors for Chinese-speaking churches. Those who will dedicate their life to church institutions or ministry.
2) Applicants
a、 Students working on Bachelor degree or Master degree in Theology Department, who are enthusiastic in church work and have good character.
b、 In the course of each semester GPA B (84%) or more, citizenship B + (87%) or more.
c、 Those who will dedicate their life to church institutions or ministry.
3) Quota and Financial Assistance: 10 recipients each receives NT$ 50,000 annually and to be split into two semesters.
4) Procedures: Students submit their application within one month after school starts and subject to Student Scholarship Committee’s review and approval.
Note:
This scholarship is not repeated with other scholarships issued by the school with the exceptions of SDA Membership Scholarship, Service Learning Scholarship, or Theology and Health Promotion Work-study Scholarship.
14. 『Sanyu Love-sharing Scholarship』
1) Objective: To assist outstanding needy students to complete college education.
2) Applicants & Qualifications:
a、 In the course of each semester students achieve GPA 80% or more, citizenship 85% or more. Besides, they participate enthusiastically in school activities, and have good performance in the dormitory and school life in general.
b、 Have personal financial difficulties and is verified.
3) Procedures:
Within one month after school starts, Student Scholarship Committee members nominate prospective or needy students who are eligible to meet the above qualifications to Student Scholarship Committee for review and approval.
4) Financial Assistance:
a、 Since this scholarship depends on donations, it is given in the form of a living allowance but is not paid on a regular basis. Recipients receive fixed financial assistance of NT$ 2,000 for single, NT$ 5,000 for student family. Recipients can receive cash in the Finance Office.
b、 The amount of the financial assistance is not subject to the total amount of individual scholarships.
15. Nathaniel Yen Memorial Scholarship (updated in June 2017)
1) Objective:
To commemorate Pastor Nathaniel Yen’s concern for the development of the churches in Taiwan Conference and to prepare future dedicated workers in SDA institutions and churches.
2) Qualifications:
a、 Applicant is a student of Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in the Department of Theology and is a Seventh-day Adventist church member baptized for one year (including) or more. During the school year, s/he is enthusiastic in service and has good character.
b、 GPA grade of 84% B (including) or more, and citizenship grade of 87% B+ (including) or more.
c、 Willing to be future dedicated workers in SDA institutions and churches.
3) Quota and Financial Assistance:
Three recipients each receives NT$ 50,000 annually and to be split into two semesters. The money will be transferred to student’s TAC tuition account as a priority.
4) Procedures:
Within one month after school starts; Student Scholarship Committee members will review and approve at the end of each semester.
Remarks:
This scholarship is not repeated with other scholarships issued by the school with the exceptions of SDA Membership Scholarship and Theology and Health Promotion Work-study Scholarship, but can only choose one application.
16. Note:
1) The above scholarships demand work and service hours and shall not be reused with other scholarships.
2) The amount of financial assistance is based on the upper ceiling of the student’s tuition.
3) Financial Assistance Guide:
a、 Students who are confirmed to receive 100% sponsorship from Conference or Institutions are unable to receive any other scholarships.
b、 If a student has received a grant from a conference or church, he/she should take the initiative to inform when applying for the scholarship.
